It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden death of Geoff Stokes. Geoff held the position of National Secretary for over 20 years and was a valued member of the Society. He was a well-respected and hard working employee and will be sadly missed by everyone.
Geoff was a great advocate of the allotment movement and the Society was proud that he released his book 'Teach Yourself Allotment Gardening' last year. Although Geoff did not have any legal qualifications, there was nothing that he didn't know about allotment law and could cite you chapter and verse - his expertise will be greatly missed also.
Our sincere condolences to his wife Liz, son David and daughter Jenny and their families.
The funeral wil be held on Monday 15th March 2010 at Rothwell Parish Church (Holy Trinity), High Street, Rothwell NN14 6BQ at 1.15 p.m. This is followed by a private cremation to be attended by the family only.
Refreshments will be available after the church service at a local hotel.
The family have requested family flowers only. Donations will be accepted in memory of Geoff to the British Heart Foundation. All donations should be sent to Avril Phillips & Family Funeral Directors, 87 Rockingham Road, Kettering, Northants NN16 8LA. |
