National Allotment Society London Branch

The London Region is the newest National Allotment Society branch and was formed in 2016.  Our aim is to recognise and support the huge concentration, diversity and growing needs of the UK's largest metropolitan area.

You may be surprised to know that within London there are some 741 allotment sites and 40,000 individual plots.  As you can imagine, these vary significantly in size, organisation and represent a wide range of diverse communities.

Quarterly Meetings.

We hold quarterly open meetings on a range of interesting subjects and also regular committee meetings.  If you haven’t already been to one of our meet ups, please do come along! The meetings are open to all members and held throughout the London region. They are a great opportunity to meet other like-minded people and visit exciting growing spaces that you might not normally be able to visit.

The meetings are also a great forum to ask any questions you have or share good practice and successes.  Our community have hundreds of years growing experience so there is always advice, inspirational stories, and knowledge to be shared!

Meetings cover a wide range of subjects.  In the past we have had guest speakers including; Tyler Harris, NAS Legal Adviser, a Forensic Botanist and Froglife (a national wildlife charity). Other meetings have featured workshops on plot inspections, site governance and good practice, and also had seed swaps, allotment visits, and cooking demonstrations.  If you have any suggestions for speakers or subjects to cover, or your Allotment Society would like to host one of our meetings or organise a site visit for our members, we’d love to hear from you.
