Chervil – Anthriscus cerefolium
Chervil prefers light moist soil and a sunny situation. It has a delicate aniseed taste and complements most dishes, bringing out the flavour of other herbs; it is best used fresh at the end of the cooking period.
HA- 10cms-22cms/4ins-9ins Fast growing it is ready to cut after only six to eight weeks. Grows well in soil, pots or window boxes. Sow seeds for succession from February to October. Can be grown under glass for a winter supply.
Pinch or cut the stems for leaves through the season, best used fresh but can be frozen in ice cubes or dried; although dried chervil does not retain a great deal of flavour.
Does not transplant well.
