The National Allotment Society - National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Ltd

Discover How to Live and Grow Your Own at RHS Cardiff Flower Show

Plot-holders from Cardiff Allotment Holders Association (CAHA) and representatives from the National Allotment Society (NAS) braved the mud yesterday to build their their mini-allotment and information stand in the Discovery Marquee at this year’s RHS Flower Show Cardiff, 13 to 15 April 2018.

Keen allotment holders from CAHA will share their expertise and knowledge and inform visitors to the Show about growing your own fruit and vegetables, both on an allotment and at home. Mike Thurlow, the National Allotment Society Horticultural Advisor will also be on hand to answer questions on allotment growing. There will be information about allotment sites across Cardiff as well as how to apply for vacant plots locally and the wider area. CAHA volunteers will encourage you to find the best site for your needs.

Peter Ryan the NAS Mentor for Wales who has grown the seasonal vegetables for the Mini-allotment plot says he would love to see everyone incorporating fruit and vegetable gardening in some way in their lives; however small.

8am - where's the bacon butties!

The stand will highlight results gathered from a survey undertaken last year highlighting the health and social benefits of allotments.  There will be a colourful background collage of photographs of allotment plots, plot-holders and plants.  A visitor quiz, early growing vegetables in pots and a repeat of last year’s highly successful model allotment will be displayed.  Details of local gardening courses will also be available.  The team are looking forward to sharing their joy in gardening and encouraging others to get living and growing!

2pm! a satisfying day's work
