NSALG Welcomes all Schools![]() Children love to see things growing and they love to get dirty, so what can better growing your own fruit and vegetables! Encouraging children to get outside works alongside the curriculum and the DCSF's initiative 'Learning Outside the Classroom'. Children are more likely to try different vegetables, especially if they have grown them; plus they get healthy outdoor exercise.
By joining the Society we can give you a step-by-step guide to get started. Whether you are a Pre-School, Nursery, Children's Centre, Infant, Primary or even Secondary, our membership is only £5 per year and this will give you access to our Seed Scheme where you can receive discounted seeds; to our quarterly magazine 'Allotment and Leisure Gardener', and information on what to grow. Either contact Head Office or your local NSALG Representative for further help and assistance.
We understand that not all schools have access to spare land, so you might like to contact your local council and see if there are any free allotment plots designated for schools. You can grow fruit and vegetables in a relatively small area using raised beds from recycled material such as wood and bricks, but whatever your circumstances we will help you as much as we can. Happy growing!
