The Southern Region of the National Allotment Society covers the administrative county areas of Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. The affairs of the Region are administered by an elected committee that meets six times a year, in Basingstoke, to discuss Society business and allotment issues. The activities of the Region are reported at the Annual General Meeting.
The Southern Region attends a number of horticultural events and Potato Days promoting allotment growing and the Society across the Region. The main horticultural events it aims to have a stand at are the New Forest & Hampshire County Show and the Royal County of Berkshire Show, for which assistance on stands will be sought from members local to the events. Please contact Mike Cantillon, Regional Secretary, with general expressions of interest in volunteering and promoting the Society within the Region.
There are a number of Associations and Federations in the Region that work together to promote allotment growing and support allotment management in their areas, these include Basingstoke Allotment & Leisure Gardeners Association, Cheltenham and District Allotment Holders Association, Slough Allotment Federation and Oxford and District Federation of Allotment Associations.
